Herbs

Herbs are complementary to acupuncture in that they, too, seek to rebalance the Qi. The two work best when combined in treatment, especially when the imbalance is more severe. Some herbs are native to China, but many Western herbs are also utilized. Most herbal formulas use a variety of 10 to 20 herbs synergistically combined. Vitamins, minerals and antioxidants are prescribed as well.

The choice of herbs and supplements will vary during the course of treatment, depending on the progress of the individual’s health. Some will be added, some discontinued as the condition of the disease changes. Herbal prescriptions are often of critical importance in successfully treating chronic and painful conditions.

Foods are also considered medicine and are selected based on an individual’s constitution and health. Individuals are encouraged to eat whole foods in their natural organic state and taught to properly combine them for balanced intake.
